The Wilier Cheshire Cobbled ClassicCheshire Cobbled Classic
Book here. The Wilier Cheshire Cobbled Classic is inspired by the Tour of Flanders – the Belgian one-day Classic. It features twelve cobbled sectors, including five cobbled climbs that exceed 20% in gradient. The most notable of these is the frighteningly-steep Corkscrew, a twisting, snaking cobbled road whose 45% maximum gradient makes it the steepest climb in the country. Much of the course is located within the Peak District National Park, starting in the beautiful Lyme Park (National Trust). The route contains over 3000m of climbing, and the event builds to a climax with a rapid succession of cobbled climbs, including the iconic Swiss Hill, a 25% cobbled climb used by Team Sky to prepare specifically for the Tour of Flanders. 120km (75-mile)

bikefridayBike Friday
Normally, held on the last Friday of the month, Bike Friday is a set of led commuter rides into Manchester from various starting places around Greater Manchester. Most rides leave at 8am but check the website as they vary depending on the distance from Manchester. Rides finish at the Eastern Bloc coffee shop (5A Stevenson Square, M1 1DN), in Manchester City Centre. Whether you’re new to cycling, returning to your bike after a break, or cycle every day, join us on Bike Friday. We ride at a moderate pace and have experienced ride leaders. It is entirely law-abiding – we do not try to slow down the traffic. All welcome (bring a bike). Click here for start points. Contact: graeme@manchesterfoe.org.uk.

criticalmassCritical Mass
A bike ride that happens in our city and cities all over the world every last Friday of the month. Critical Mass rides began in San Francisco in 1992 and rides spread around the United States and the world with over 200 rides taking place in 2006. Critical Mass has no leaders, and no central organization licenses rides. In every city that has a Critical Mass ride, some locals simply picked a date, time, and location for the ride and publicised it, and thus the ride was born. Critical Mass is an idea and an event, not an organization. It is a great way to meet other cyclists and to have a fun bike ride. It is not a fast ride and often children come too, everyone is welcome to come and celebrate the bicycle! Meet central library, st peters square, Manchester.
