Sun 11th June 10am Croft
Lunch at  General Elliot in Croft, which is between Culcheth and Risley and is actually still in Cheshire. It is an on-road or paved off road on the shared path of the Cadishead Way or on the Bridgewater Canal path between Monton and Stretford. We leave Chorlton through Stretford and Urmston heading for Irlam Locks to cross the ship canal, then we ride down the Cadishead Way before turning back into the countryside of Glazebrook, Culcheth and Croft. After lunch we will ride through Birchwood and some quiet lanes near Glazebrook (there are a few potholes here but very easily negotiable), then back on the Cadishead way path until we get to Peel Green where we will join the delightful Port Salford Greenway, then back on the road briefly to get to Monton where we will get onto the lovely Bridgewater Canal back to Stretford. From Stretford we can either stay on the canal or return to Chorlton via road. There are a few minor steady gradients and the only steep bits are to get up and over the occasional bridge.
